Since 1994, Johan van Kreij has studied sonology at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague. This is a unique study that combines the two areas of music and technology, or more specifically in his case, composition and the development of musical tools. For the realisation of The Boat, techniques are being used for the transformation of sound that he designed and developed himself. The source of these sounds mostly consist of voice. The Boat is a solo dance piece, choreographed and performed by Tami Tossey. It explores dreams that might or might not come true. (Tami's father decided to move with his family to Taiwan to build a boat and to sail around the world.)
