Interview for RealAudio comments by the composer, 2:02.

David W. Solomons was born in Oxford in 1953 and has lived in various parts of England, France and Hong Kong.  He graduated from Oxford University in Modern Languages, preferring to go his own way in music and to teach himself the arts of singing, guitar-playing and composing. His compositional style is relatively retrospective, and he makes full use of the possibilities offered by the use of modes, especially various oriental modes (Middle Eastern and Japanese),  and the Dorian and octatonic modes, as well as the better-known major and minor modes.

He currently lives in Sale, Cheshire and works in Manchester as a translator.  He sings alto with various choirs at the Cathedral in Manchester and composes both secular and religious works, which are available online at http://tutti.co.uk

He has produced several CDs which are available at mp3.com and resonances.com and the tuba and euphonium quartet Tubalaté has also included pieces by him on two of their CDs, which are also available at http://tutti.co.uk. His next project is to produce a CD with professional countertenor Stephen Taylor in 2001, which will include 10 of his art songs for alto and piano, entitled Songs of Solomons.
